Every year, Beyer sponsors its own polo team at the Swiss Open Polo Championships in Winterthur-Ohringen. The event is both a sporting and a social highlight. Besides the thrilling, energy-laden polo games, visitors can admire the elegant outfits –and above all hats in all shapes and sizes – worn by many of the spectators.

Polo was first played more than 2,500 years ago in Persia, somewhere between the Euphrat und Tigris rivers, and over the centuries it spread throughout the world. The sport was introduced into Switzerland at the end of the 19th century by English cavalry officers, who spent their holidays in St. Moritz. Since it was founded in 1998, the Polo Park Zurich has grown to become the largest polo club and the most important training centre in Switzerland.

Beyer is extremely proud of its polo team, which is reconstituted every year. The company, in close collaboration with the well-known Swiss watch brand, Aerowatch, has created a special edition polo watch specifically for this tournament.
