Clock and Watch Museum

A unique collection.

The Clock and Watch Museum Beyer Zürich is housed in Zurich´s most prestigious shopping district, situated in the very heart of the city, in the premises of the Beyer watch store. The exhibition comprises some 500 pieces from all fields of chronology, which are examined in technical and scientific terms as well as from an art-history point of view.

The museum contains chronological instruments dating from 1400 BC right up to the present day - shadow sticks, sundials, oil clocks, hourglasses, water clocks, grandfather clocks, table clocks, pocket watches, wristwatches, and scientific and navigation chronometers. The collection is arranged chronologically and currently ends with two cutting-edge quartz instruments, both from Patek Philippe - a central quartz clock that is accurate to within a thousandth of a second a day, and a quartz watch that checks the time once every second via a wireless connection to the atomic clock in Neuchâtel and is accurate to within a millionth of a second!

The exhibition is constantly being expanded and is widely regarded as one of the most important horological collections in the world. Be sure not to miss a visit!
