The Beyer Watch

The design of this watch emulates the giant timepiece that hangs outside the Beyer shop. It has served as a trademark for decades, and can be seen from a long way off on the Bahnhofstrasse.

IWC legend Kurt Klaus as a guest of Beyer

10/16/2014

Kurt Klaus is 80 years old and an IWC legend. For over 50 years, he worked at IWC as a highly successful inventor and designer. During this time, his creations included an easy-to-use perpetual calendar that could be set using the crown and a moon phase display that required no correction buttons.

Despite his age, Kurt Klaus is a sprightly character, and he took our guests on a journey through the development of these masterpieces of horological technology. In a fascinating talk, he captivated his audience as he described the workings of the complicated eternal calendar in a clear and understandable way, and also told about his personal experiences. Afterwards, guests were treated to an excellent cocktail dînatoire created by CARLTON executive chef, Thomas Löffler, and his team. At the same time, they had the opportunity to admire the complicated IWC masterpieces at close quarters.
