The watch - a sound investment or an object of speculation

At the end of 2002, a special exhibition was held at our museum. The theme was the development of the prices of a number of watches, as compared with different indexes such as the Swiss stock market. In a number of cases, the result was astonishing. It comes of little surprise that the famous modern-day brands, such as Patek Philippe and Rolex, are still extremely popular among collectors. In addition to these two names, we also showed watches from other renowned brands, including Breguet, Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC, Omega and Swatch.
