Beyer and Patek Philippe concert

The 12th concert to be jointly hosted by Patek Philippe and Beyer was held on Friday, 7 September 2007 at the Tonhalle concert hall in Zurich. Beyer invited clients and friends to participate in an unforgettable event. The around 1,000 guests were treated to an Arabian-Andalusian evening, with the music, food and ambience all in keeping with the theme.

The main focus of this year's concert was multi-facetted, and took the form of a kind of “musical cruise”. The journey got under way with Arabian and Andalusian music, featuring the Moroccan sounds of the oud, a mediaeval stringed instrument resembling a lute, accompanied by various percussion instruments. This was followed by music by European composers interpreted on the violin by the French composer, Laurent Korcia. Whether by de Falla, Ravel, Brahms or Ysayë, all of these pieces revealed a strong folkloric character, as did also the compositions of Arabian and Andalusian music by Saïd Chraïbi, the undisputed master of the oud.

After the concert, guests were treated to an Oriental Cocktail Dînatoire amidst an appropriate setting. The foyer of the Tonhalle concert hall, which was decorated in a corresponding manner, enchanted guests and whisked them off on a journey to Andalusia and North Africa. Large pictures and palm trees adorned the room, while various Moorish-style tents, complete with cosy sitting areas, invited guests to relax and linger for a while.
