The Beyer Watch

The design of this watch emulates the giant timepiece that hangs outside the Beyer shop. It has served as a trademark for decades, and can be seen from a long way off on the Bahnhofstrasse.

Beyond presents: professions at Zurich Opera House

03/17/2016

There are some very rare professions not only in the sphere of watchmaking, but at opera houses, too. As a principal sponsor of the Zurich Opera House, we are presenting various unusual professions of people who work there in each issue of our customer magazine, beyond.  In the forthcoming edition, head of textiles Franziska Kneubühl tells all about her job involving fabrics and purchasing, which she has built up over the last eight years. In her department, all the materials for the new costumes are defined, researched and ordered. Costume designers from all over the world come here to discuss fabric, lace, accessories such as feathers, and seam types.

Franziska Kneubühl’s everyday life is full of anecdotes. Quite by chance she discovers a small weaving company that produces beautiful lace bands. Or the feathers for "Tales of Hoffmann" are finally released from quarantine in South Africa just in time after all. You can read more stories like these in beyond no. 22, due to be published in the middle of April. Would you like to receive beyond on a regular basis? You can subscribe to it here.
