The Beyer Watch

The design of this watch emulates the giant timepiece that hangs outside the Beyer shop. It has served as a trademark for decades, and can be seen from a long way off on the Bahnhofstrasse.

Flower clock

10/31/2017

The famous flower clock at Bürkliplatz, which Beyer presented to the City of Zurich in 1985, is once again showing itself in its resplendent spring colours. The clock comprises a 70kg heavy, radio-controlled movement with a cast iron case, set in a raised concrete plinth. The face measures five metres in diameter and is a popular photo subject among tourists.

According to the 100 year farmer’s almanac published by Mauritius Knauer in the 17th century,  the year 2018 is under the sign of Venus. This has inspired Lutz Gärten from Zumikon to create the winter attire for our floral clock out of shells, sand and stone. Astronomically speaking, Venus is the closest planet to Earth. Its white atmosphere reflects most of the sunlight that reaches it back into space, and so can be seen as a bright object in the sky. Depending on its position, it is visible in the morning or the evening.
