Match for Africa 2
A select group of customers accepted the invitation by Rolex and Beyer to attend the Match for Africa 2 at the Hallenstadion indoor stadium in Zurich. At this charity event, Swiss tennis stars Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka succeeded in raising CHF 1.3 million francs for the Roger Federer Foundation. The Foundation sponsors educational projects in six countries in southern Africa.
Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka also played alongside a 10-year-old, up-and-coming singer and tennis player from Canton Aargau, and a ball boy. During the breaks to change ends, spectators were treated to music by the South African Ibuyamo Orchestra. Towards the end of the event, Federer danced in front of the 11,000 fans present, while Wawrinka motivated them to clap along. Many things on this Sunday evening were rather different to a normal tennis match. Incidentally, Federer won the match 7:6, 6:4 after a good 1½ hours of play. But for once, winning was not important…
