Steps in servicing quartz watches
Complete servicing – i.e. thorough overhaul and repair – comprises the following:
- Check the housing and strap/bracelet
- Remove the movement
- Remove the hand mechanism and the calendar movement (if appropriate), as well as the grip between the wheels
- Completely disassemble the movement
- Replace defective working parts in accordance with cost estimate
- Clean all mechanical parts with a special machine
- Check the parts and, if necessary, replace the jewel bearings
- Reassemble the individual working parts of the movement; adjust and correct the play between the wheels
- Oil the wheels
- Check the electronic parts
- Replace the battery
- Check the function of the movement
- Assemble the face and fingers
- Polish the housing (gold and stainless steel housings)
- Clean the housing and strap/bracelet
- Renew all seals
- Install the movement in the housing
- Check watertight watches for water-tightness
- Check for accuracy
- Check the watch in various different positions
- Final check by the workshop
