The creation of Scatola del Tempo watch boxes for storing and rewinding automatic watches dates back to the end of the 1980s. The idea was born from the desire and inventiveness of a watch collector, Sandro Colarieti, who needed boxes of the same high quality as his watch collection. Unable to find such objects in the market place, he decided to make them himself, using local craftsmen and the finest quality materials. Scatola del Tempo boxes are made entirely by hand with the softest of leather and the most prestigious silks, woven in the Colarieti family’s textile firm.
The watch winders are equipped with high precision micro-motors, governed by microprocessors that can rotate the winders clockwise and anti-clockwise and also determine various running intervals. Depending on the programme selected and the weight of the watch, the battery-operated watch winder runs for between one and two years. It also comes supplied with an electrical adapter. Scatola del Tempo’s 1RT rotor is used by Patek Philippe and many other renowned Swiss watch manufactures.
