The characteristic shape of the Reverso, its clean lines and its unmistakable gadroons are inspired by art deco.
In 1931, British polo players presented the art of watchmaking with an enormous challenge. To avoid damage from a polo mallet during a match, the case was designed so that it can be reversed with a flick of the wrist. The delicate watch dial is then replaced with a sturdy caseback.
Sixty years later, the unique watchmaking skills of the Grande Maison led to the development of the Duetto/Duoface concept, which reveals a second dial and thus enables the integration of a number of additional complications.
The elegant and timeless Master collection has a rich history. It offers a selection of aesthetic and high-performance round men’s watches made with unparalleled expertise by the Grande Maison. The three lines – Master Ultra Thin, Master Control and Master Grand Tradition – offer a combination of refinement and a distinctive character that win over enthusiasts with their highly unique features. All lovers of haute horlogerie are enthralled with them.
With its numerous complications and its unique sophistication, the Rendez-Vous bridges haute horlogerie and a perfect feminine aesthetic. It was created thanks to the Grande Maison. The collection now offers a mother-of-pearl dial with a fine guilloche and floral hands indicating the time. It also has a number of complications, including a tourbillon, day/night display and a moon phase function. The exquisite, sophisticated and completely feminine Rendez-Vous stands out for its perfect combination of breathtaking aesthetic and fascinating mechanical movements.
Its features and its spirit were inspired by the Grande Maison’s legendary Memovox Polaris from the year 1968. Designed to accompany the urban adventurer everywhere, the timepieces in the Polaris collection from Jaeger-LeCoultre combine a sporty design with the elegance that is so characteristic of the Grande Maison. Date display, alarm function, chronograph, universal time display – these models have every useful function for the everyday life and adventures of the modern man.
The Dual-Wing system was created as a result of the wish to push the boundaries of watchmaking artistry. It is revolutionary in every respect. Two independent mechanisms are united by a single regulating element, giving the timepieces in the Duomètre collection an unparalleled level of reliability and precision. The first mechanism is dedicated to the proper functioning of the complications, while the second ensures the precise measurement of passing time. The combination of the two components that make up the Dual-Wing movement give the Duomètre collection a unique place in the world of highly complex watches. These watches have been thought out to the smallest detail. All components have been expertly decorated with painstaking patience. A number of highly precise techniques are used to decorate the movement of each watch manually. For example, the Côtes Soleillées is a patented technique that leaves an impression on the metal similar to the rays of the sun. The extraordinary level of detail allows for a harmonious interaction of all elements of the Duomètre.
What inspired the watchmakers at Jaeger-LeCoultre to come up with the Atmos table clock in 1928? How did they decide to use temperature fluctuations as a source of energy for the clock? The Atmos table clock continues to astonish today with its inventiveness. Inside a hermetically sealed capsule is a gas mixture that expands and contracts as the temperature fluctuates. Thus, the clock winds itself naturally with no need for human intervention. The subtle combination of classic and modern is the secret to the timelessness of the Atmos collection. The unique design of the table clocks enables viewers to see the complex mechanism from every angle. This clock is a tribute to the very first Atmos table clock and its avant-garde character. From art deco to contemporary art, rare craftsmanship and the complexity of the art of watchmaking, the Atmos always stays on the cutting edge, while never losing its essence. This is made possible thanks to the reinterpretations of the superb designers who work with Jaeger-LeCoultre.
The Hybris Mechanica represents the highpoint of the art of Jaeger-LeCoultre: the complexity of the art of watchmaking at the highest level. It motivates artisans to preserve the heart of the Maison: the creative spirit of Antoine LeCoultre. Artists were given free rein when they created the pieces in this limited edition. Each piece requires years of research and development to radically reinvent the high-quality watchmaking complications.
