This year, TUDOR presents a bold Black Bay Ceramic model that defines material engineering with blacked-out aesthetics; a Black Bay 58 with a host of new technical and aesthetic features; a Black Bay 54 in "TUDOR blue"; and, an additional model to the Black Bay line, the Black Bay 58 GMT.
TUDOR is introducing a range of new modern colours and sizes to the TUDOR Royal. Lastly, the band unveils the TUDOR Monarch imbued with a century’s worth of savoir-faire.
TUDOR Royal
The TUDOR Royal is a brand classic, both sporty and elegant. With its integrated metal bracelet, signature bezel and Manufacture Calibres, it’s the epitome of versatile sport-chic.
Royal was a name first used by TUDOR in the 1950s to emphasise the superior quality and exquisite designs of its watches, which stand until today. The Royal range features a variety of dial colours in three brand-new sizes: 30mm, 36mm and 40mm.
TUDOR Monarch
This is a new watch with a name that carries a century-old legacy. It features a finely faceted case with razor-sharp lines and a bracelet to match, an enigmatic dial, and a Manufacture Calibre with time-honoured finishing that stands apart.
CENTENARY AESTHETIC LANGUAGE
The Monarch points to early TUDOR visual execution, with a distinctive "Error-Proof-style" dial that incorporates two different styles of numerals: Roman from 10 to 2 and Arabic from 4 to 8. The hue and texture of the dial is akin to papyrus, the ancient material made from processed pith that was used throughout Egypt and the Classical world. In this case, it lends a classical aesthetic to the Monarch. The distinctive faceted stainless steel case and the sharp bracelet all bring the centenary aesthetic language of TUDOR into the modern era. The unusual nature of the Monarch, a mainstay in TUDOR’s line up for half a century, is exactly what makes it stand out in TUDOR’s range.
TUDOR Black Bay Ceramic
BLACKED-OUT AESTHETIC
Aesthetically, the TUDOR Black Bay Ceramic combines contemporary, high-tech details with a bold, blacked-out theme. Its matt black monobloc ceramic case has sand-blasted surfaces with bevelled edges, mirror-polished for a striking contrast, and is finished with very pronounced lines. The insert of its rotatable bezel is in black ceramic with a sunray satin finish. The engraved graduations in matching tones offer an additional complementary matt detail, which responds subtly to changes in light.
ALL-CERAMIC BRACELET
The all-ceramic bracelet is light on the wrist and makes the watch easy to wear. Ceramic is a difficult material to work with, but now TUDOR has developed a matching ceramic bracelet with ergonomic qualities that serve as testament to the brand’s mastery of technical innovation, as well as a new aesthetic in line with TUDOR’s tradition of "going dark".
GOING DARK
Its dial is also black-on-black (actually black-on-charcoal, but you get the idea), including its applied hour markers with "dark" luminescent material. In other words, this watch is all black. It’s a totem to technical mastery and for that, TUDOR continued the tradition of "going dark" with a blacked-out aesthetic.
TUDOR Black Bay 54 "Blue"
TUDOR presents a new addition to the Black Bay 54 line in "TUDOR blue" that embodies the purest modern expression of the brand’s first-ever divers’ watch. A sapphire blue dial and bezel are paired with a perfectly proportioned 37mm case and a Manufacture Calibre.
HISTROICAL PROPORTIONS
True to form, the unidirectional bezel is devoid of any graduated hash marks, echoing the days of the early 1950s when scuba diving was in its infancy and TUDOR produced a watch for those daring enough to engage with the burgeoning sport. The seconds hand recalls the look of the original with a lollipop design. Ergonomics have evolved as well, with a redesigned crown and bezel, both featuring historical proportions. What’s new this year is also a nod to a part of TUDOR history; the inclusion of "TUDOR blue". This specific hue of blue is a distinct "sapphire" colour with a sunray-brushed dial and matching blue bezel.
STEEL BRACELET OR RUBBER STRAP
The Black Bay 54 is fitted with a three-link stainless steel bracelet with polished and satin finish, complete with the TUDOR "T-fit" clasp equipped with a system for rapid length adjustment. A black rubber strap option is also available for the Black Bay 54. The strap comes in three sizes complete with the TUDOR "T-fit" clasp.
TUDOR Black Bay 58
The Black Bay 58 has become a mainstay in TUDOR’s line up; it’s an enthusiast favourite. Now it’s receiving a host of new technical features and a new aesthetic. Along with a five-link bracelet, it’s now thinner, making it comfortable on the wrist.
THREE-LINK "RIVET-STYLE" BRACELET, FIVE-LINK BRACELET OR RUBBER STRAP, ALL WITH "T-FIT"
The three-link "rivet-style" bracelet of the Black Bay 58 model visually refers to the riveted bracelets used by TUDOR in the 1950s and 1960s. This bracelet, along with the five-link stainless steel bracelet, comes with the TUDOR "T-fit" clasp, an ingenious system for rapid length adjustment. A cut-to-size black rubber strap option is also available for the Black Bay 58. It comes in three sizes, fitted with the TUDOR "T-fit" clasp for the perfect fit.
NEW DESIGN AND AESTHETIC
The new edition of the Black Bay 58 builds on the 2018 release and retains all the core design elements from TUDOR throughout the ages. The case design and overall aesthetic has been updated. At first glance it’s easy to see that the text on the dial has been reduced to two lines in line with TUDOR’s Master Chronometer certified watches, but upon closer inspection you’ll notice pinched hands at the base and a new bezel and crown design.
