Long Night of the Museums

09/07/2019

On 7 September 2019, 50 Zurich museums will once again open their doors from 6pm to 2am and invite guests to the 20th Long Night. We will also be opening our Clock and Watch Museum and look forward to welcoming you with an exciting programme.

Please note that on this evening only the LNZM combi-ticket for CHF 25.- is valid (no individual admissions or discounts). Children under the age of 16 years accompanied by an adult are admitted free of charge.

Program
Our permanent exhibition is one of the most important private horological collections in the world with its around 270 exhibits. It recounts the history of timekeeping from 1400 BC to the present day.

Six independent and self-employed Swiss watchmakers present their works, sketches and more at our special exhibition ArtWorks. They express their personal views on their work as modern-day watchmakers and provide an insight into the lengthy work process.

Visit the exhibitions at your leisure and learn more about the art of making watches and automata at the special demonstration stations. The number of participants is limited; therefore waiting times must be reckoned with.

6pm-2am
Visit the exhibitions at your leisure and learn more about the art of making watches and automata at the special information stations. The number of participants is limited; therefore waiting times must be reckoned with.

6-8pm / 9-11pm
How accurate is your watch? Bring your mechanical watch with you and have it checked for accuracy by one of our in-house watchmakers.

7pm-1am
Precise handicraft: at an old watchmaker's table, young watchmakers demonstrate centuries-old craftmanship.

8-9pm / 10-11pm / 1-2am
Fascinating automata: take a look inside the body of an automated doll, which is constructed in the same way as a watch movement, and be amazed by its lifelike movements.

Long Night tickets are available from mid-August at the various museums, the Tourist Service at Zurich Main Station, the VBZ sales outlets and customer service centres, as well as at the various venues on the evening. Take this opportunity to visit several Zurich museums and unique events. Further information can be found at Lange Nacht.
