World’s oldest watch retailer
Beyer Watches & Jewellery, located on Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich, is the oldest watch retailer in the World. Founded in 1760, the family company has been run by the eighth generation since 1996: Owner René Beyer is proud to be able to draw on a vast trove of watchmaking experience dating back 260 years.

René Beyer
René Beyer is part of the eighth generation managing Beyer Chronometrie AG. He graduated from Neuenburg Commercial College and attended technical college in La Chaux-de-Fonds, where he completed a watchmaking apprenticeship. René Beyer joined the family business in 1986, and took over as owner and managing director 10 years later.
Dreaming of his own honey
René Beyer had been dreaming of making his own honey for years – and sweet dreams are wonderful when they are made real. One balmy June night, the moment came: Ten honey bee colonies moved from a rooftop in Zurich’s District 5 to Beyer Chronometrie’s roof on Bahnhofstrasse 31.
