In all of the Jaquet Droz watches ticks a mechanical automatic calibre with a double-barrel movement, featuring a 68-hour power reserve. Each timepiece is embossed with a clover leaf, the secret mark of the founder. The transparent case back reveals the ornate “Côtes de Genève” ribbing. This embellishment of the interior is equal in every way to the highly decorative outer design. In order to present the distinctive clock face in a fitting manner, Jaquet Droz has revived the time-honoured art of “grand feu” enamelling.
Jaquet Droz opened his first watch manufactory in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1738, followed by further establishments in London and Geneva. Pierre Jaquet Droz was an ingenious creator of watches, clocks and automata. His three androids in particular - the Writer, the Draughtsman and the Lady Musician - took the whole world by storm. His clients included members of many royal and imperial courts in Europe, Russia and China.
